All Star Dryland Tiles: Skill Zone Hockey

Welcome to the All Star Dryland Tile Training Center Series, where we feature hockey facilities across the globe that use the Industry’s Slickest Stickhandling & Shooting Tiles. This series is specifically designed to showcase the way All Star Dryland Tiles set-ups are being used for training all levels of players and to highlight the ice-like performance of this surface as it relates directly to mimicing puck movement similar to real ice.

At HockeyShot, we’re passionate about offering the right surface for your intended skills practice. While we offer 3 types* of Synthetic Ice, we also offer 2 non-skateable Sport Tiles suited for practicing the best sport in the world!

The MY Projects section on our website was created to provide a visual exhibit of both commercial and residential training spaces that have been completed with at least ONE model of HockeyShot flooring and in most instances, a multitude of other HockeyShot training products.

But it doesn’t stop there! The MY Projects Division at HockeyShot also exists as a team of multiple personnel readily available to communicate via phone, video or email, in order to facilitate consultation in regard to our inline skus, customization of 3rd party product and lastly, piece of mind as it relates to purchase and delivery of your order.

Go ahead and snipe through the project below!

From the ice up, the MY Projects staff have assisted on numerous Commercial and Residential set-ups using All Star Dryland Tiles as the best non-skateable surface on the market.

Above is a clean shot of the 5 individual shooting lanes with respective (retractable) ceiling to surface divider netting. Shooting is the focus at SkillZone hockey and as such, the space is set-up for maximum reps- in close or with distance. Built within a stand alone warehouse in the Rosedale Industrial park in Edmonton, the high ceilings with metal trusses, concrete walls for anchoring and good natural light made this a gem of a location!

Owner and lead instructor Grant Stevenson is an ex-Pro (NHL, AHL, Europe). His About Us section says it best:

Skill Zone provides high repetition practice for fundamental shooting and puck-handling improvement. We help players build the skills and confidence to become stand out players that are poised to play at the next level.

By using modern advanced techniques focused on age appropriate personalized skill development, our players see immediate results that are able to transfer over to real game scenarios creating a truly unique training environment for hockey athletes.

Learning how to score at each level provides new challenges for each player. We offer individualized scoring tactics and skill development from minor hockey through Junior, College, and Professional hockey.

Working with the MY Projects team, Grant was undecided between going with a skateable surface or keeping it “shoes only” on the All Star Dryland Tiles. In the end, he decided the initial go at his programming would be best served in shoes. While he has left the door open to go Extreme Glide Synthetic Ice in the future, Skill Zone Hockey has become The Shooting hub in Edmonton!

His facility is a shooters paradise, beyond the HockeyShot tools implementation the configuration and components were really well thought out by Grant.

Grant’s always thinking outside of the box and re-shaping the way his training curriculum can enhance his client’s experience. Whether it’s incorporating Blaze Pods into his tarps or developing a shooting software to analyze accuracy and speed progression- the MY Projects team cant wait to see what’s next with Skill Zone Hockey. Way to go G!
