Surf N’ Skate Festival

Events

On August 19th, 2017 we teamed up with our official partners the Los Angeles Kings and Pacific Rink to create one of the coolest and imaginative things we’ve ever done! A 3-part, 1-day event consisting of sizzling Synthetic Ice skills competitions on the beach, a 3 on 3 ice hockey tournament in the frozen arena, and of course surfing on the waves.

HockeyShot set up about 500 square feet of Synthetic Ice Revolution Tiles and Extreme Goal & 2D Backstops to create a hockey rink on the beach! Yes, read that again, hockey on the beach! Teams competed in various skills competitions (sauce toss, hardest shot, corn hole and more) while enjoying the ability to play hockey right next to the Pacific Ocean.

Pacific Rink was created by Jason Withee and Brad Serkin, step-brothers who focus on creating premium quality clothing and bags, inspired by the surf, skate and snow culture in California. They are passionate about integrating the surf world and the hockey world, so a partnership with HockeyShot and the Los Angeles Kings seemed like a natural progression.

In the afternoon teams were transferred to the Toyota Sports Centre in El Segundo for a 3 on 3 hockey tournament, pond style! The winning team took home a HockeyShot package and were named champions of Surf N’ Skate. Nearly 80 players participated, and a fun time was had by all!

Jeremy Rupke from howtohockey.com was in attendance along with lots of HockeyShot staff who were thrilled to see the vision come to life. Coach Jeremy even provided a Hockey Clinic Q&A for all in attendance! You can follow coach Jeremy on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube. He posts new videos every single week with hockey tips, hockey drills, hockey lessons and hockey tutorials to help you get better at hockey.
