Guinness World Records

Events

HockeyShot is thrilled to have sponsored not one, but two Guinness World Record attempts in 2018! It is always wonderful to support courageous and creative feats in the hockey community, and these two record breakers certainly fit that criteria!

Our first donation went out to Hockey Foundation in India. HockeyShot donated over $15,000 USD to help them achieve their goal of the world’s highest altitude hockey game! The game was played in the Himalayan region of Ladakh, India on a natural ice hockey rink at the altitude of 14,050 feet, or 4,374 meters, above sea level. This officially makes it the highest hockey rink in the world.

The Hockey Foundation was started in 2009 and is a New York City-based charitable non-profit with a global mission to empower underserved youth, promote social change, peace and prosperity, and support community development through hockey. They focus on the incredible impact of hockey in remote and underserved regions around the world, such as in Ladakh. The organization has donated nearly 7,000 pieces of equipment to the region and has helped coach nearly 3,000 players.

Players from Canada, Germany, India and Russia came together to break the Guinness World Record for highest elevated hockey game played.

"It was truly an unbelievable experience."—Benoit Hardy-Chartrand, a Canadian who played in the game, told CTV News Channel.

HockeyShot is thrilled to be sponsoring this event, and look forward to annually donating products and help them raise funds by auction, to help players who need help getting in the game outside of North America.

The Hockey Foundation has already started planning a hockey game in front of the Egyptian Pyramids, that’s right! Stay tuned for more information regarding another record setting event in Giza, on the outskirts of Cairo. The collaboration could see HockeyShot Synthetic Ice being used in the desert.

Next, HockeyShot will switch gears to help sponsor and promote the OneHockey Holiday Invite in Michigan. OneHockey is already recognized worldwide as the source for the best organized and most entertaining hockey tournaments the industry has to offer. Now the international hockey festival leader is attempting to set an official world record for hosting the largest tournament ever, which will undoubtedly set it apart from the rest of the sporting world.

HockeyShot partnered with OneHockey and the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association to put on the largest tournament the world has ever seen at Holiday Invite 2018. The current record was set in Calgary, Alberta in 2007, where 10,992 players competed in 957 games on 42 sheets of ice. The OneHockey Holiday Invite 2018 is expected to shatter all those marks, which takes place December 27-30, 2018 in Michigan, with teams from over 10 countries expected to participate.

The relationship between OneHockey and HockeyShot has been long standing, and we are honored to help donate MVP and Player of Game prizes to all their tournaments, including the Guinness World Record attempt! MAHA President shared his excitement with MIHockey, stating, “It will be so exciting for these hockey teams to be part of a Guinness World Record, what an accomplishment. This would be any player’s dream, and there’s no better place to do that then in Michigan.” Keep an eye out for more news about the Holiday Invite 2018 here, we hope to see you on the ice!
